It’s a conjure of rigid seats and weak frames, the unsteady roll of wheels against pavement — lightweight strollers are a danger, you believe. They can provide no value beyond cost and no comfort beyond the most meager of padding. They are not defined to modern standards. Instead they are hazards, providing no relief; and you will not subject your child to them. You will instead refuse to even glance their way, certain that they will offer nothing but concern.

This is an easy assumption. It is also, though, an incorrect one.

While lightweight strollers were once shaped to careless bolts and rickety suspensions, they have recently been changed. No longer are they the results of poor manufacturing. They are instead intended to rival their standard counterparts — and they succeed. The advantages they provide are many and all parents should consider them (rather than dismissing even the suggestion of them):

One: Weight. The true benefit of these strollers has always been in their weight. They were designed originally to offer relief for parents who couldn’t bear to push the traditional items. That principle has remained — with many strollers not reaching even 20 pounds. They can be lifted, carried and folded easily.

Two: Convenience. Your days are composed of little trips, quick adventures. You wander with your child through the city, finding unexpected pleasures. A standard stroller is often too large for these moments, however. It can’t be tucked quickly into a car, demands too much space on a sidewalk. Lightweight items are ideal for traveling, though, and are compact enough for any simple afternoon.

Three: Maneuvering. Crowds are tedious things — they steal all inches, force you to move around tight corners. A lightweight stroller makes that easy, however. They can weave more efficiently than standard choices and require less effort to turn.

It is all too tempting to discount the lightweight products. It’s far better, though, to understand their benefits. Consider them.
