A decision must now be made. A nursery is almost complete, has been shaped to the happy colors and pleasing designs, has been stuffed with toys and music box sensibilities. You now must decide how to fill the final corner — and a Moses Basket seems to be without flaw. You’ve forever been fascinated by these, understand them to be easy. They can be carried from room to room, can offer the support your newborn baby needs. There are surely no reasons to hesitate when selecting one, you believe.
This is wrong.
Moses Baskets — while stylish — can offer certain concerns and these must be noted:
One: Size. Your child will forever be changing, gaining height and strength each day. It is only natural therefore that he will quickly outgrow the confines of his basket, require a new sleeping space. These options rarely last more than a few months. They must be instead replaced to ensure an infant can have the appropriate comfort.
Two: Cost. Endurance is a necessity. All items, you’ve discovered, must offer dependability, must be able to compensate for the dollars they demanded. Moses Baskets… do not. Due to their temporary nature they will typically be viewed as too expensive (and too futile). New models will often be unable to be justified.
Three: Materials. Style is important. You want your child to have a trendy nursery, to enjoy art and design. Moses Baskets offer these. They also, however, can provide less than sturdy materials. Many can be shaped from weak wicker, which can fray with constant use. Their bottoms can sag; their handles can twist; and this can be less than ideal when they must be constantly carried.
There can be no denying that Moses Baskets offer advantages to parents: they are portable, stylish and easy to maintain. Their concerns must be understood, however, so an informed decision can be made. Know their limitations to see if they surpass your own.
