It’s All About Making Good Choices

As a new mommy, there are a million things to worry about and to buy. Baby supplies can be very expensive, and for some, especially teen moms, it can often seem impossible to afford everything you need. Focusing on what your baby needs for proper development and safety, while developing your own parenting skills can be made easier if there are not financial concerns as well. Remember, it is all about making good choices when it comes to parenting, so take the time to really consider your options.

What You Really Need

In a world of immediate gratification, many new moms believe they must have all the bells and whistles for their new baby. Take some time to really look at what your new baby will need. Some things are obvious, like strollers and car seats, while other baby supplies might be a bit more unnecessary. Once you have the list completed, it is time to make some tough choices. For example, if you are a two car household and plan to stay home with the baby, you may want to consider asking for several free car valuations. You may find that by selling the extra car and making that sacrifice, it is easier to afford what you need.

Build Your Skills

If you make the right choices from the start, you will find that your own parenting skills improve as your baby’s development does. Making a difficult choice, like the scary “sell my car” one, can help you develop good financial habits of your own that you can pass on to your new baby.

One of the most likable things about technology today is that devices such as iPods are individualized allowing everyone to have his or her own personal soundtrack for life. Having musical motivation is just fingertips away and this luxury can be had anywhere and anytime of day. Cell phones can now be used to download favorite tunes online and play inside of automobiles.

Society has fallen in love with cell phones and routinely wonders how we got along without these devices in the past. This is the latest addition to a myriad of applications making cell phones even more appealing. Instead of being bogged down with several devices, users can do anything from searching for used Ford cars for sale to playing their favorite tunes.

Ford has come up with a system that links mobile phones to cars and even responds to voice commands. This keeps eyes attuned to the road instead of radio dials. There are other systems out there that connect iPods and other music players to cars using Bluetooth technology. This is a brilliant idea for those who want to consolidate their gadgets. Now moms can drive, keep the kids in line, and enjoy their special music selections without lifting a finger.

Transportation, cell phones, and mobile music players are all combined; does life get any better? Technology continues to amaze and delight making used cars feel new again and making automobiles feel like second homes.

Pretty soon everything that can be done at home will be done easily from the seat of a car.

The miles are empty. They must therefore be filled with sound: lyrics, laughter and easy vocals. Parents must offer their children distractions that will please, and songs are the simplest ways to achieve that.

Downloading music is essential for your car ride. Whether it’s a catch tune about car insurance or your favorite song on the radio, choosing the right melodies can offer peace for any journey, and the iTunes charts must be scoured for the best selections.

Here We Go

Celebrating child-friendly themes (and techno beats) is Here We Go: an undeniable song by The Fresh Beat Band, a product of Nickelodeon Studios. This 2011 tune burst onto the charts and has shown no hint of losing favor. Its cheerful lyrics will thrill youths of all ages … and even their parents.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Proving that songs can be sustainable – even in the wake of toddlers and their fickle attentions spans – is Peanut Butter Jelly Time. This song (orchestrated by Chip-Man and the Buckwheat Boyz) first gained notoriety in 2005. Its infectious rhythms and easy to master words made it an instant favorite; and it has since remained a staple of the Top Ten charts. It’s certain to delight and should be chosen.

The Duck Song

Children’s songs too often boast obnoxious sounds and silly lyrics: with parents despising every note that filters out from their radios. The 2009 classic Duck Song by Bryant Oden has proven to be an unexpected pleasure, however. Adults and adolescents can appreciate its folk-tinged narration, as well as its sweet message; and it has remained a popular choice since its arrival.

Songs are essential for all trips. Choose carefully and the trip will be better for all concerned.

How Moms Can Shop the Smart Way

A baby wearing many items of winter clothing: ...

When moms head out to shop for various baby supplies such as clothes, shoes, strollers and related items, they have to have a smart eye when shopping in order save money. The wisest option is to find the best quality items for the cheapest price, which can be done on a tight budget. Shopping savvy starts by focusing on clearance aisles, sales and seasonal closeouts.

You can find the name brand items, such as Nike clothing, for a reasonable price. Stores will often mark down items in order to make room for the newer styles of the upcoming season. With a little bit of searching in the sales racks, you can find trendy and sturdy styles for your children at rock bottom prices.

If possible, purchase clothing that is one or two sizes too big for your child. Little ones grow quickly and these clothes can be stored for next year. Shoes can also be found cheap during sales events. Watch for specials that offer a fifty percent discount on one pair when you buy one at regular price. These deals help parents keep funds in their pockets for other expenses.

Shopping online is another avenue to find savings. Many companies will offer Internet only specials at their ecommerce stores that can bring you incredible savings. These are offered the most at changes in the season and before the holidays start. You can also find good deals through thrift stores, consignment shops and other second-hand stores. The deals here are even better and help moms to keep their children supplied for less.

Be Prepared For National Dress Up Your Pet Day

You don’t need me to tell you that moms are some of the busiest people on the planet. August found you wrapping up the summer plans. September had you in the thick of fall sports and school. October brought Halloween. November’s Thanksgiving celebrations jump-started the December holiday season. You thought you could catch your breath in January, but your kids tell you that there’s another holiday to celebrate. It’s National Dress Up Your Pet Day. How do you prepare for that? Don’t worry. Thanks to the Internet it will be a breeze. In fact, it can be an enjoyable family event.

Gather all the family members and consider your pet’s personality. Is your pet a daredevil? A mischief-maker? A shy animal? Once you’ve determined this, consider costume options that match the pet’s personality. Don’t limit yourself in this brainstorming process. There are pet costumes of all types available online. Before you focus on a particular type of costume, go to an online store and look at all your options. You might want a traditional pet costume or an avant-garde one. Get creative, but always keep your pet’s comfort in mind as you make your choices. You want the costume to stay on so you don’t want it too loose, but you don’t want to limit your pet’s mobility either.

Don’t forget to consider the weather as you pick a costume for your pet. Creative costumes aren’t worth anything when your pet is too hot or too cold. When the day arrives, continue making it a family event by spoiling your pet with toys, treats and extra cuddles. Remember, the day is not about showing off; it’s about bonding with your pet. You can have fun celebrating the day and get great pictures of the memories that will last a lifetime. Best of all, thanks to the Internet, you never had to leave your house to prepare for the event.

Experience Gained: Volunteering

The world is to be defined by good deeds. This is your philosophy — and it’s one you try to give every day, try to prove through offerings of your time and effort. And such effort should be provided to your child’s baseball team, you think. You wish to volunteer, to provide the needed support and aid. You believe that should be an easy task. These are things you experience always as a parent, after all. Applying them to a sport should be no different.

You want to be a team mom.

You must first learn what that truly entails.

Too often is it believed that team mothers do nothing beyond travel with players and offer snacks between innings. This assumption is incorrect, however. There is far more to this process than mere cheering. It’s instead an exercise in organization — with every second scheduled carefully and all responsibility piled upon one individual.

This can — naturally — be too much for some.

It is important therefore that all would be team moms seek to gain experience first. Don’t simply fling yourself toward the position, thinking you can succeed. You may find yourself overwhelmed, unable to cope with the many duties. Try instead to serve as an aid to already established parents. Learn what their day to day routines are. See all they must accomplish. And recognize if you want to give so much to a season.

The desire to assist your child’s team is worthy. The ability to actually do this, however, is not guaranteed. You may discover that you don’t have the time (or the patience) to fulfill the many obligations. You intentions may need to be forgotten or even just reduced to a secondary role — with you offering help on occasion, willing to donate a few afternoons.

Don’t believe this position to be easy. Understand that it is instead a demand of energy and know if you have enough to give.

The Moses Assemblage

It was meant to be an easy choice — a basket stand was considered, taken finally from a store; it was pieced together by you and your partner (with instructions ignored to favor common sense); and it was then placed in the corner of a nursery, gave the finishing touch for a perfect style. Cribs had all seemed too large, too clumsy, for the effect you were trying to create. You knew instead that a Moses Basket would provide a sharper design.  You merely first needed the stand. Building it was no worry, though, and decorating it would prove to be ideal.

That ideal went wincing to the floor with the first touch a pillow, however — and you were horrified.

You should have been.

Too often do parents assume that Moses Baskets can be quickly assembled, are without the precautions of cribs (which involve far more pieces and demand careful understandings of the instructions). When these baskets are considered, however, all must be aware of their potential lack of sturdiness. They each require stands, which must be built. And doing this improperly can cause complications.

Ensure that the basket is placed correctly onto the platform. Be certain also that the platform features straight legs and no lack of symmetry (imbalance is not a trait you want here). Follow all directions, making sure the base does not tilt or rock when touched. It must be steady — and you must then test this by placing items that are similar in weight to your child inside. See if there are any signs of sagging weaves or straining bolts. Tighten everything accordingly.

A Moses Basket can add an instant sense of style to any room. It can also, however, cause worries if not properly maintained. Be sure you understand all instructions and gauge your work thoroughly before placing your baby inside. Do not risk a lack of stability simply to achieve a fashionable design. Assemble with care.
